President Trumps ambassador for international religious freedom reportedly complained to Britain about its treatment of a jailed right-wing activist known for organizing violent demonstrations against Islamic immigrants in the UK. Three sources cited by Reuters late Friday said U.S. Ambassador for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback raised the issue of Tommy Robinsons jailing with British Ambassador to the U.S. Sir Kim Darroch in June. Robinson, a founder of the English Defense League, was jailed for 13 months in late May for disrupting a trial by making video recordings. Brownback reportedly told Darroch that the Trump administration would publicly criticize the British governments handling of the case against Robinson if they did not treat him more sympathetically.
